Treasures in Heaven: What Truly Matters
Good afternoon everyone, this is Monique with Monique's Stallings Ministry. And today we are going to talk about Treasures in Heaven. And this is coming from the book of Matthew verse 19 and it says this don't store up treasures on earth. Moths and rust can destroy them and thieves can break in and steal them. Instead, store up your treasures in heaven, where mocks and rust cannot destroy them, and thieves cannot break in and steal them. Your hut will always be where your treasure is. Is and if your treasure is on earthly things working and buying and slaving to get to the next or get the next best thing then you are not seeking to store up things in heaven you're seeking to To do what other people do. And that is a desire to. Me, myself and I. What I can give for my family. What I can steal, rip off, lie, deceit. And steal to get. For things in this earthly realm. But make no mistake people. If your eyes are just on what the world has to offer. That's not enough because we will not be here forever so for this insistence in Christ focus on things that you can store up for in heaven where that will be your eternal dwelling and don't get me wrong the Lord is not saying not to take care of yourself but don't work so hard don't work so much don't lie don't steal don't cheat to get these things that you are only first of all converting yourself to hell and secondly you cannot take any of this stuff with you and I always have to kind of put myself in some of these pictures because growing up you wear you want to wear the best. Clothing, name brand, if you want to make yourself look good. I was that way as a teenager, as a child. I was to the point where when my aunts and uncles got me something, they knew that it had to be name brand and it had to be expensive, or I didn't want it. How shallow was that? How shallow was that? But now that I'm mature enough in Christ, not because of my age, because I'm maturing in Christ, I understand that all that stuff doesn't even matter. And what comes to mind is I found myself and other people who were buying expensive things for me so that I can have the name of someone imprinted on my backside, on my chest, when I don't see myself more than who I am to have my own name stitched on my backside or on my chest. Think about it, people. You're killing yourselves. Yes, brothers and sisters in Christ, you're killing yourself to have the next best name so that you can wear somebody else's name on your chest so you can say you've arrived. Those are all futile things. and who tells you, you get these things, this is the American way, and what's happening. People are caring, staring, cheating, and lying for these things, for money. And this is not even our permanent home. And thank God for that, that it's not. But that's something for all of us to think about, for you to think about, because I have. And especially when I lost my mother at 50 years of age. When we went through her closet, she still had clothing that had tags on it, shoes she hadn't even worn, a wig she bought that she hadn't even worn, jewelry, perfume, and that's one of, that's one thing. Of the first times I think in my life that I realized that the Bible says you can't take any of this stuff with you. Live comfortable. Help your family out. Help your children out. Help the kingdom out. But don't try to kill yourself. Don't try to lie, rob, steal, and cheat to get it. Because as you can see, a lot of people are either dead or in prison. Because they wanted to have that American greed. And this is Monique, Monique Starling's ministry. Music. May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord's face shine upon you and be gracious to you. May the Lord turn his face toward you and give you everlasting peace.
